Things like this don't just happen in the real world, especially when some random guy comes in when you're working, asks for your number and buys you flowers. Well technically he didn't bring the flowers to me himself, he got a friend to do so. However, just the mere sight of him pacing up and down in front of the store was enough to make me laugh and remind myself how weird life it.
They came in, like any other group of friends would, hanging out before their movie starts. Sure we were having a really good conversation, but you know, working within customer service, conversations are the usual hence why I probably didn't take much notice. I enjoyed talking to them, they seemed like the group of people I would definitely hang out with, simply because of their down to earth personalities and the spontaneous fun they seem to exude. I'm not very foreign to the term "weird" when it comes to asking the people around me what they think of me. I'd rather be weird and myself, than normal and boring.
So the girl whom I at first assumed was together with the boy, comes up to me and tells me how her friend really wanted me to see the movie with them. Of course I was working, and of course seeing a movie with strangers you barely knew sounded a bit iffy, so I declined by reassuring her that I wasn't going anywhere further than the borders of my work premises. She then informed me that her friend was going to ask for my number. I honestly thought it was a prank of some sort, because again, things like this don't just happen in the real world. Or they probably do but never to me. I mean the only time my number has ever been asked for was by this creepy man who visited the store regularly, and at the clubs/bar once or twice.
I was reluctant, thinking how weird the situation was and not so sure myself how to handle it. I brushed it off and smiled while staring at that boy who walked towards the counter again for some change. Maybe it was a joke, maybe it was a dare, who knows. I guess they were serious though, a moment later, he was back at the counter. "Can I have your number?"
"No," I replied. If he wanted to see me, he can come in any time I'm working. Of course I wasn't going to tell him the shifts I had. And that's what I told him, "hard to get" was how he putted it. But you know what, I wasn't going to give some guy my number whom I barely knew no matter how nice or interesting I thought he was. I was working, I need to be professional here...*coughs*
So he walks off towards his friend, and I was sure that would be the end of my interesting night. I was wrong again, who would have thought that his female friend would come venturing in with a small bundle of pink roses in her hand looking like she's flustered and out of breath. "He made me run all the way to the flower shop on the other side to buy you this." Where do you even begin to retort? Truthfully I was ecstatic, what girl wouldn't be when something like this happens to her. After much mind fumbling thoughts, and just speechlessness, I laughed at the sight of him in front of the store, walking back and forth like the most anxious man on earth.
And that was my night, there may be more to write, there may not. But what I can assure you however is that life is full of surprises, embrace them. The good and the bad. Learn to be confident in the person you are. I mean a few weeks ago, I was so stressed out about life that i had speech problems. Words would not come out of my mouth the way I wanted it to, I couldn't speak properly and it was driving me nuts. But I went out with a good friend of mine whom I am so grateful for knowing, and we let our hair down and just had fun. I realised my stress was gone pretty much soon after, even though exams are coming up and Nika and studying don't really do so well together.
Have fun buttercups, be spontaneous, be lively.
